The Forums are where our members discuss issues and policy proposals. They are the beating heart of the Centrist Revolution.

We need to make sure that the Forums are focused, and that everyone adheres to the Pledge they took when they joined the Centrist Revolution.

In an effort to accomplish those two objectives, each Topic will have a moderator. As a moderator, you are responsible to:

    • Create and maintaining the first post on the Topic. (See below for Topic Top Posts.)
    • Ensure that topic participants follow the Pledge.

    Topic Top Posts

The top post in a Topic should be maintained and updated as needed to make it easy for new Topic members to see the current status of the topic.

    Format

    • TOPIC: [A sentence explaining the subject.]
    • PROBLEM: [A sentence explaining what problem we’re trying to solve in the discussion.
    • OBJECTIVE: [A sentence explaining what the desired end state is. What will the world look like after the problem is solved?]
    • PROPOSALS: [Outline the current proposal(s) that aim to solve the Problem.]
    • RESOURCES: [List helpful resources that will help inform participants on the issue.]

Once you have created the Top Post, you can then reply to that post to present your ideas and rationales that support your proposed solution. Please keep your personal discussion points in a Reply and not in the Top Post. As other participants propose solutions and share resources, please update the Top Post accordingly.

We will periodically host votes on proposals to see what our members support. The results of those votes will be reflected in the Proposals section. Discussion is encouraged to continue after a vote, especially if there are new developments that warrant a reconsideration of the proposals.

    Moderating Discussion

Recognize that there will be a learning curve for some people. If someone does not adhere to the Benjamin Franklin standard for discussion, feel free to contact that person directly (using internal messaging tools, not on the public forum). If that is ineffective, send a message to a Forum moderator and they will look at the discussion. If necessary, they will give the individual a warning (yellow card) and advise them on how to improve their communication. If they continue to be disruptive or disrespectful, they may be suspended or banned (red card).

We want to include as many people as possible in the discussion, but we are also determined to make the Centrist Revolution a place where people are able to have open and frank discussions about tough issues, and where they will feel comfortable respectfully exploring options with confidence that they will be heard and respected for their efforts.

    Thank You!

As a Topic moderator, you play a vital role in sponsoring and fostering discussion on important topics. You are a key member of the team working to improve political policy discussions and crafting solutions to our toughest issues today.
